Does it have to be expensive to be of good quality?

"Ah, nice hair (bag or shoes or top) but it looks kind of cheap"!

I am sure most of us would have heard this before, said this before, or even thought this before.

That brings me to ask, what has cost got to do with anything? If truely the item is nice, suits the wearer and isnt tacky, why do u have to think of how much it costs????

I know a girl who cannot wear any piece of clothing that does not cost 5000 naira & above. According to her, the cheap ones are substandard. I really dont understand that. I dont get the mentality. So there cant be real nice things that come at a price that isnt cut-throat? This girl shops in shops at allen avenue and environs ONLY. I go to idumota and buy the exact same things she gets at, sometimes, as much as 3000 naira less! She tells me mine is not the real quality. Meanwhile i meet some of these allen and toyin street boutique owners in some of the shops i visit in idumota! The only difference between what i buy and what she buys is that hers have been placed in an air conditioned room!

My motor is - As long as it fits me, is presentable, nice, isnt tacky then i am good to go. I have never been one for high priced items. i look for places where they come less expensive and most times, end up getting, all round, a much better deal than those that strictly follow the its-better-quality-when-its-expensive principle. This mentality has seen boutiques and beauty shops charge outrageous amounts (with corresponding outrageous profit margins) on their items cos they feel that if they do any less, they will be seen as cheap and therefore not good. Well, every man (woman) to his (her) own, abi?

Maybe i should think of opening a shop of my own and get people with this mentality as customers. Mehn! e no go be small hammer o!

Deaths in Nollywood - Fear Grips Entertainers

A popular Sierra-Leone pastor, Prophet Joshua Karjoh, who is currently in Nigeria on a spiritual cleansing mission, has claimed that the death of Hip Hop singer, Obiajuru Nwozo, otherwise known as MC Loph on Wednesday, 14 September, 2011 is not natural.

Prophet Karjoh, told P.M Entertainment that the musician was attacked by those who are envious of his success, adding that perhaps, “the evil perpetrators have realised that he was going to be a greater person in few years’ time.
He is also of the opinion that many deaths that have plagued the Nigerian entertainment industry in recent time are not natural, adding that there is every reason for Nigerian entertainers to be more careful and move closer to God.
“I didn’t know the musician (MC Loph) before his death but when some of his colleagues hinted me about how he died, I asked and it was divinely revealed to me that he was attacked. The enemies hit him with a spiritual rod on the head and waist.
“I have been to many countries doing my deliverance assignment, but I have not seen the kind of things I see in Nigeria before. There are evil doers everywhere, but it is more rampant and severe in Nigeria,” Karjoh, who arrived early this week, said.
The death of MC Loph alongside his only sibling in an auto crash along the Benin-Ore Road, has further heightened the death scare that has been rocking the Nigerian entertainment industry for sometime now.
Within the last six months, the industry has lost about 10 practitioners, a development that has been described as spiritual attack from many quarters. Between March and September this year, some of the entertainers that have lost their lives include Kokolet Chidinma, CD John, Yemisi Eleto, Alasari, Ashley Nwosu, Sam Loco Efe, Christy Essien-Igbokwe and the latest being MC Loph.
Concerned about the rate at which strange deaths and illnesses have plagued the industry, the entertainers had earlier run to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who had a special prayer session for them. But this has not kept death at bay in the industry.
Some of the entertainers who spoke with P.M Entertainment expressed fear over the development, most of them suggesting that it is time to move closer to God.
Popular Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar, said “I believe it’s time for us all to be prayerful and be each other’s brothers because there is a lot of hatred in some people’s heart for no reason. People die everyday but we hear about that of entertainers because they are in the limelight. I really plead for love in our nation.”
Tywo Akintoye of Twin-X fame told P.M Entertainment that “it is unfortunate but we have to understand that the nature of what we do naturally brings much more attention to happenings in the entertainment industry than any other sector.
“When you look at the rate at which people have died in this country in the last six months, then we can understand why it has also affected the entertainment industry adversely. With the bombings, floods, road accidents and so on, you will naturally put it down to the leaders who haven’t done enough to protect the lives of our citizens.”
In her own reaction, female comedian, Helen Paul, popularly known as Tatafo, opined that “it is disheartening to see and hear such things happening, but in all, we cannot question God. However, one sure lesson is that we should live each day as if it is the last.”
“It is so sad and all we need is to pray for God to protect us all,” those were the words of Peter Okoye of P-Square fame.
Like most of his colleagues, Hip Hop crooner, Danny Young, acknowledged that “we need to be prayerful, conscious and careful. If we can do these three things, it will be in the interest of our industry because the lost souls would have contributed more to the growth of the industry if they were still alive.”
No doubt, the untimely death of MC Loph, 38, came as a huge shock to all and sundry, particularly because he died about four days to his traditional marriage.
In a chat with P.M Entertainment, Emmanuel ‘Kaha’ Nzemeke, who had been a friend of the lat MC Loph since 1995, opined that the death of the Osondi Owendi Remix star had a spiritual undertone.
According to the Heart Robber crooner, “it is very obvious to me that there is more to these deaths than we all think. It is more spiritual than physical because whatever happens physically has already gone through a spiritual stage. We need to be prayerful and seek God’s guidance and protection.”

Hiring drivers and domestic staff - Please be very careful

This news is a little stale but the lesson is still very usable - BE VERY SURE OF THE KIND OF DOMESTIC STAFF YOU HIRE!.

The thieves in this case were into stealing cars, i have heard tales of domestic helps 'stealing' people.

The suspected gang

A suspected car thief, Idowu Odeyemi, and three members of his gang have been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly stealing his employer’s Nissan SUV the same day he was employed.

Idowu Odeyemi (l) and members of his gang after they were arrested by the police.
He allegedly took the vehicle to a dealer to sell for him. He confessed to the police that he and members of his gang usually apply for a job as drivers and when employed, they later steal the vehicle and drive it to their base at Olodi Apapa, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, to sell.

The police identified the driver’s accomplices in the car stealing syndicate as Adams Satif, a car dealer and mechanic, Abubakar Yakubu and Samuel Akinyoye, who allegedly act as middlemen between the driver and the major car dealer, Adams.
P.M.NEWS gathered from a police source at Olodi Apapa that the driver who was employed on 4 August, 2011, allegedly committed the crime when he drove his boss, Mr. Babatunde Ayodele, to his office at about 8am the same day he was employed.

Instead of parking the Nissan SUV with registration number EF 927 KSF at the car park, he allegedly lied to the security guards at the gate that he was sent on an errand and he was allowed to drive out of the premises.
The bubble burst when his boss came out from his office to go home and the driver and the SUV were nowhere to be found. The security guards reportedly told the Ayodele that his driver told them that he was sent on an errand, a claim he denied.

P.M.NEWS learnt that after the boss waited till 6pm without seeing him, he dialled the runaway driver’s phone number, but it was switched off.
He contacted the vehicle tracking company and they swung into action and tracked down the vehicle at Oyewole Street, Olodi Apapa, Ajegunle, Lagos.
The owner reported the matter at Ajeromi Police Station and the driver and his accomplices were arrested at the scene while removing parts of the car. The registration number had also been removed.

During investigation, the police discovered that the driver applied for the job with a fake name, John Balogun, claiming to be a member of Deeper Life Bible Church, Ebute Meta District. He also gave a fake residential address.
Items recovered from them include: Duplicated ignition keys of Nissan and Toyota car brands, forged customs papers, fake driver’s licence and tools they use in dismantling stolen vehicles.
In his confessional statement to the police, Idowu said: “We normally send one of our gang members out to go and apply for a job as a driver with somebody who owns an expensive Toyota and Nissan SUV. Our member applies with fake name, address and phone number.

“The same day he is employed, he would find his way at all costs to drive away the vehicle to our base, where we would change parts of the vehicle and resell it and share the proceeds.
“We have been in this business for a long time. We promise to repent now if we are let off the hook.”
He did not tell the police in his statement the number of vehicles he and his gang have stolen.
All the suspects, according to the police source, have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos for further interrogation.
When P.M.NEWS visited the State CID Command, a senior police source confirmed the presence of the suspects and said they are undergoing interrogation, adding that after investigation, they would be charged to court.

When is it time to spend the night with a new date?

My friend asked me early this week, 'is it time to go clubbing with him? Knowing that will end in me spending the night at his place'.
She met this amazing guy about 4weeks ago on her way from work. I dont usually approve of the kind of guys she happens to meet but this particular one blew me. He acts so matured and responsible. He speaks intelligently and confidently. He is yound and good looking. I was so happy for her and i really hope this relationship gets to the next level for her.
She always feels that some amount of time should pass before a girl agrees to spend the night with a guy. Maybe that is so, but how much time excatly???
I have always been of the oppinion that, in most cases, time dosent matter. It all boils down to the maturity and personality of the 2 people involved. Whether you kiss on the 1st date, whether you make love after 3meetings, whether you spend the night at his place after a week of meeting - IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO THE PERSONALITY OF THE PERSON YOU ARE DEALING WITH.

Some guys  feel put off and deflated if the girl continually insists on letting time pass before anything intimate can happen, some guys have walked out of relationships cos of this. Some guys like it and see the girl as being decent - Different strokes for different folks. Some like it , some dont. depends on who u are dealing with.

My friend expects my answer to her question 'Is it time to go clubbing with him'. She expects a yes or no response from me. What do you think i say to her????

Does anyone deserve to be raped?

Some people say 'she must have caused it, she must have insulted him, maybe she dressed indecently etc' whenever they hear that a girl was raped.

i have been feeling really bad.

There has been this issue craeting a huge buzz in the web world about 5 Abia state university guys that gang raped a girl. That particular issue has my heart bleeding since i heard about it. I wished i never heard it. I feel so bad and helpless. I feel like justice is the only thing that can heal this for me. And this is just me, how will the victim herself be feeling if i am feeling this way???

There is ABSOLUTELY NO JUSTIFICATION WHATSOEVER FOR RAPE!!! NONE, NO MATTER WHAT

A friend of mine was telling me how she was nearly raped in school (uni). She escaped from the guy and ran to report the incident to one of her brother's friend's who was a tough guy on campus. The 'justice' meted out on the guy somehow was rash but i think well deserved. He was stripped to his birthday suit, a little hole was made in the ground, and he was asked to 'rape the ground' - literally!!! He did that for several hours while guys waited on him with belts and canes.Since he was looking for somewhere to stick his 'thing', they gave him one, they gave him a hole whose owner wouldnt feel it - the ground. I dont think he will think of thinking to rape anyone again after that incident.

I really REALLY hope that some form of justice is served in this ABSU saga. At least to tell other people that it just isnt right for anyone to place himself in God's position and have a fellow human being beg him for his/her life

Just imagine if some humans had the power of night and day, hmmmm.

Killer Number! 09141

Nigerians will never cease to amaze me. It even attracted the attention of NCC!

NCC advises Nigerians to ignore rumours of phone-induced death
On September 15, 2011 · In News
BY EMMANUEL EBELEKE
Following rumour making the round that 10 people died in Wukari while receiving calls from a phone number, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has advised Nigerians to ignore such rumours.
The commission in a statement yesterday by Mr. Reuben Muoka, Head, Media and Public Relations said the claim is false and without any iota of truth, and that nothing like that could happen to somebody responding to a phone, no matter the number through which such calls are made.
Mr. Muoka described the rumour as the handiwork of some unscrupulous elements to instill fear in the minds of the public.
“Technically, it is not possible for such a thing to happen because even the voice that you receive at the other end of the phone undergoes many conversions. It is therefore unimaginable that somebody will die while receiving a call. It is only very gullible people that will believe such a rumour”, he said.
Mr. Muoka also explained that all calls to phone users pass through the switch of network operators where it is processed and identified for billing purposes and that no operator has issued this particular number to any user.
“In so far as this number is not issued by an operator, there is no way such a phone number will be able to call anybody in any of the networks,” he posited.
He said that he has personally placed a call to the said number and it showed it is not a valid number, and therefore, will not be able to make or receive calls.
Mr. Muoka said the need to nip this kind of rumour to the board, justifies the rationale for ongoing SIM Card registration exercise in the country which will ensure that all phone users will be identified with their fingerprints and digital photographs.
He urged subscribers to go about their normal businesses and ensure that they all register their SIM cards with either their service providers or NCC appointed agents before the end of the programme by month end.

I am sure most of you got the text yesterday "Pls don't pick any call with 09141 its instant death after d call, 7 people are dead already pls tell others fast, its urgent." "B careful in receiving cals especially new numba. Over 10 people died in Wukari LGA Taraba state 2day. Dis is d no. 09141 only 5 digit. Pass it 2 odas 2 save life. TELL OTHERS"

And people started panicking. In this time and age. Believing that recieving a call can kill. (well,it happened in the movie - Case 39)

Naija forever! Anything goes
